Master perfumers

Perfect poet and discerning connoisseur, Dominique Ropion is the essence of the master perfumer. Not yet fully aware of his natural talent, he graduated in physical engineering. The opportunity that made him one of the great contemporary perfumers, took shape at a training course in the department of chromatography in Roure, where Jean-Louis Sieuzac and Pierre Bourdon, the master perfumers of the School of Roure, persuaded him to enhance his talent at the school of Roure Bertrand Dupont in Grasse. After an experience as a Junior perfumer in Argenteuil, he followed Jean-Luc Sieuzac, one of the greatest perfumery experts and technicians. Dominique Ropion is a Master Perfumer at IFF - International Flavors & Fragrances. His know-how is a fusion of precision and freedom, risk appetite and experimentation. Curious by nature, perfectionist like a master watchmaker, he creates his agreements with method, patience and precision. "The perfumer is a craftsman who loves the unceasing encounter of different ingredients." Dominique Ropion likes to combine opposites to reveal new balances and surprising formulas. Bold, instinctive, and at the same time very rigorous. A man of exceptional creativity, a master craftsman capable of interpreting the aesthetic and traditional canons of artistic perfumery in a new and contemporary language.

Cosmopolitan soul, he loves travelling and living between Paris and Dubai. He explores the world. His source of inspiration and creativity comes from meeting different people, cultures and landscapes. Ever since he was a child, Julien has been finding in creative arts a way to communicate and express his emotions. He loves painting, drawing and creating costumes for theater and puppets.

As soon as he graduated in Economics, he discovered what would become his passion and profession. It was the revealing encounter with perfumer Pierre Bourdon that revealed his destiny to Julien: creating perfumes. Julien became assistant to the master Pierre Bourdon with whom, during the 3 years of intense training, he shared his creative philosophy, his techniques, his love for perfume. The experience in the IFF International Flavors & Fragrances team in the Middle East marks Julien indelibly. In the Middle East, Julien discovers new aesthetic codes, new insights and falls madly in love with oriental fragrances.

As a child, he had a keen sense of smell. At the age of 15 he fell in love with the profession of master perfumer. He enrolled in the entrance examination to enter the International Higher Institute of Perfume founded by Guerlain in 1970 in Versailles. He was not admitted, but he was so determined that he first enrolled in chemistry and then, in 1988, he entered the prestigious Roure Perfumery School in Grasse, where he studied the Jean Carles method. In 1991 Antoine became Jean Guichard's assistant. Two years later he went to the USA, where the market was constantly evolving. Back in France, he spent two years with the company at IFF - International Flavors & Fragrances, before joining Givaudan in 2003. Working on the development of "tested" perfumes was not his dream. He wanted to be Perfumer creative. Now he creates original, uncommon compositions using high quality materials.

A free spirit, Dominique Moellhausen is a “life traveller”, always looking for something new, whilst enjoying the journey. She lives in the here and now.

Born in Milan in 1992 from a Dutch-Paraguayan mother and German origins father, Dominique grew up in an open- minded and international environment.Ever since she was a child, she had travelled the world with her father Anthony – chief at the family Fragrance House - experiencing the fascinating diversity of scents and developing an outstanding sensitivity to different cultures. After graduating in Economics, Dominique further develops her skills as a perfumer in the prestigious Grasse Institute. Nowadays she is Perfumer and R&D Vice-Director at Moellhausen SpA company.
